The Day The Music Died?

buddyUntil recently, the rarest Buddy Holly recording was not available and was not music. It was only available via transcript.

Buddy was trying to get a hold of his A & R man,he fails, so he calls the head of Decca Records Paul Cohen who takes his call.

Buddy had recorded and released some sides on Decca, but the relationship was poor at best. He calls to make sure he is released from the label, and tries to get back some unreleased recordings. He tapes the phone call (I would assume for legal reasons).

Have a listen to what has to be the first time on tape, that you get to hear the music business screwing over a artist. It is both amazing and very uncomfortable. The odd part is he ends up on a label in the Decca world again!

Boy, don’t you love showbiz!
