It’s not easy, but you knew that!
We landed a Steven McDonald/Anna Waronker song “Not Bad At All“, in one of the 3 new Mini Cooper spots.
Music supervisor superstar Liza Richardson, gave us a ring, and gave me the lowdown on the spot, the feel, and the price, which helped lots! We knew who to avoid, who to go to, and who could pull it off.
They wanted a feel like “Last Nite” by The Strokes, and many other songs. We pitched this fab new tune, which Liza being a woman with great taste loved right away, and wanted to know would this be a easy song to clear for the spot. I talked to the clients, I knew the answer, but after a couple of days it went away, which is very common in all areas of the licensing world.
ONE MONTH LATER
The ideal song has still NOT been found for the spot, she tells me who to send ideas to. I send her the same song (IF it is right, stick with your gut), Liza agrees, and she goes to bat again. They like it, and use it! Sometimes a gut feeling is the way to go! You can see and hear the song in the commercial!
Commerce at it’s finest.
So,what gives? I thought all the praise last month on my Mini was enough to convince some people they should own the lovely car.
I was reading my favorite magazine the Weekly World News, and much to my surprise the very famous Bat Boy, has the nerve to steal a Mini, I had to check my driveway to make sure my car was there. OK OK, yes me and BB are friends, we have had a few drinks, but he steals a Mini!!!!
Now Bat Boy was last seen fighting Osama Bin Laden, helping America against the evil axis. As this article will show, he is a thief, with no regard for anyone, I have turned my shoulder on the little guy.

When I was in high school a friend of mine had a original Mini, about the size of a sardine can,I loved it!
I spent a OK summer in Israel, and my brother’s friend David, had one, we went all over the very small country, those 2-3 months, four of us crammed in the car, again I loved it! When the Mini came on the market last year, I had to have one, I drove a crap rental for 11 weeks waiting for it.
It is much bigger than the Mini of old, and safer too. I was driving and another Mini approached me, the guy waved, I waved back. I had entered a secret club. I don’t remember anyone nodding at me in my rental car, except, maybe to say why? It is the first time I have had a car that has personality and stops like the Autopia cars at Disneyland.
I have taken a photo with my kids Baby at the wheel (don’t try this at home), and Chesterfield ready for a ride. The SUV Backlash starts here!
