Ok my BIG tip of the month, and maybe year, is “Fake Tales Of San Francisco” by UK’s Arctic Monkeys. Freshly signed to Lab faves Domino, this single (only 1000 copies) is a breath of fresh air, with a story and a punchline. Heard their demos and there are tons of great songs, this band which already has a rabid following in the UK will have a release in October. OK OK My tip of the year!

Two books to recommend
Ex Brit Pop Front Person of UK’s Sleeper Louise Wener has two Books, the second is The Perfect Play is a fresh look at a girl looking for her long lost father, and stumbling into the world of poker. Fun read.

Dave Thompson’s book on Cream The World’s First Supergoup, is quite a read. If you want to get a great idea of the early pre-Cream music scene, this book takes almost 100 pages to get to Cream’s first release. Well written, quick read, much better than expected!
